Mary Black is an Irish singer-songwriter from a huge musical family, her father had been a fiddler, her mother a singer, and her brothers had their own group called The Black Brothers, Mary's sister Frances Black is also a successful solo artist.'Without The Fanfare' released in 1985 is Mary's third album, it contains her unique takes on the songs 'The Water Is Wide' and 'Ellis Island', which have become standards amongst Irish singers, and those who record traditional Celtic material.
